I do not own Supernatural. The stories that I write are purely for entertainment value and no money is being made. Supernatural belongs to the Eric Kripke, Kripke Enterprises Scrap Metal and Entertainment, Wonderland Sound and Vision, Warner Brothers Television, and the CW Network.

The Dark Horse Series

I noticed that I seem to write a lot about John Winchester. He's the fallen hero that everyone discards as an abusive father. I, however, think of him as a dark horse of sorts. When I started noticing that I was writing a lot of reflective John pieces, I got the idea to write a series about John Winchester. I went through all my past one-shots and collected the ones that I thought best described him as I saw him. So, basicially, I'm going to be writing my first series called The Dark Horse Series.

Okay, I know I haven't updated in forevers and all of you probably don't care what I think anymore, but I've been majorly busy with college and work. I barely have freetime for myself anymore, but I promise you that I haven't left "The Dark Horse" series to rot. I will finish it.

I know I haven't updated in forever or even been on LJ in forever. I mean, geeze, I have 22 messages in my inbox to take care of. Everything from work to college to commitments has been a really big mess lately. I've been scrambling to try to get time to write but everything is disjointed because there are such long stretches in-between my writing hours. Not to mention I had to completely reformat my computer and now I'm currently reinstalling everything onto my computer from my external hard drive. I just want everyone to know that I haven't forgotten about the stories nor do I plan to just stop writing them. This year has just been crazy, I've been majorly busy, and nothing seems to be working out right.

So, I didn't actually watch the repeat of MM tonight. I watched Last Comic Standing, but I did TIVO Supernatural to watch this weekend. It's what I always do during the summer repeats. Anyways, I came online and started reading there was spoilers running on the bottom of the screen during the episode. HA! Take that Sera Gamble for trying to confuse us and misdirect us with foilers and cryptic names in sides. You deserve it. Anyways, I'm sorta sad about one thing.

The last poll that I had up is tied. Therefore, I am adding more stories to the poll for you to vote upon which story you want to read next in The Dark Horse series.

Which story do you want to read next?

Dark Congregation

Desperado

The Forgotten
0 (0.0%)

The Creature Within
0 (0.0%)

Dark Congregation
- John comes home after a hunt to find Sam and Dean gone. All that is left is a note that tells John that he messed with the wrong person. (April 1999)

A continuation of The Dark Horse that takes place roughly a year after the events. The story revolves around the lengths people will go in order to enact revenge and those caught in the crossfire. The character of "Frankie" from The Dark Horse is present and Dark Congregation goes farther in-depth with his character as well as his connections with Ben Seraph and inadvertently John Winchester.

Series Mythology Level - Moderate

Desperado - John Winchester's idea of a family vacation involved an old, abandoned Wild West town filled with ghosts. (June 1993)

This story is just a light, fun stand-alone tale that involves the Winchesters actually being a family together. It steps away from the intense mythology of the series and dives into the basic fundamentals of father and sons.

Series Mythology Level - Low

The Forgotten - John had seen a lot of things in his first years of hunting. Never had he seen a monster that targeted only children before. (April 1990)

This story is a monster-of-the-week type story. At the same time, it's a highly John emotional story as he struggles with the sheer inhumanity of what he hunts.

Series Mythology Level - Low

The Creature Within - Every hunter had a story that explained how they got into hunting. John never cared much for those stories until he heard the terrifying tale of Caleb Lyon's introduction to the supernatural. (December 1995)

This story isn't just about Caleb and his past. There is a storyline, a hunt, and lots of the Winchesters to go around. This story helps link Caleb to the mythology of the series.

Series Mythology Level - Moderate

I have finally finished the final chapter of  "The Dark Horse". Actually, it was more like I sent it off really quickly to Shannon before I could revise the damn thing for the 1000th time since I started to write it months ago. That was my goal for the weekend, to get the stupid chapter done so I could finish up the last chapter of "They Came at Night" and start on a new story.

So, I have to be at work in less than an hour and thought I perhaps can give everyone an update on my stories.

I swear to all that is holy that "The Dark Horse" is almost finished. There was just so much detail in the last chapter that it seemed choppy and not put together at all. Therefore, I've cut out a whole scene which will never make the light of day that involved Pastor Jim. It was actually one of the first scenes I wrote for the story. I actually think it was that scene which was making me falter in sending the chapter off to my editor. I mean, it just didn't fit the dynamic and I battled with myself one day at work whether or not to take it out. Therefore, it's out and I'm liking the chapter a whole lot more. Right now, I'm in the process of combining the last scene to the scene before it. It should be done soon. I promise.

As for "They Came at Night", the chapter is outlined and I know exactly the scenes that will take place. I just need to actually write the darn thing. There is one and a half scenes completed though.

The poll, well, it seems like "The Dark Congregation" and "Desperado" are tied for first place with no votes to "Impending Storm" which was renamed "Apple of Discord". I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed. The Bela story is going to be written. I promise, it will be worth reading. Anyways, for the poll, I think I know what I'm going to do. Since it's tied between the two stories, I'm going to create a new poll with "The Dark Congregation", "Desperado", and two new stories listed. Therefore, you can vote on either the two old ones or the two new ones. Sound good?

1.) The next chapter of  "They Came at Night" was just sent off to Shannon to edit. Hoorah!

2.) The last chapter of "The Dark Horse" will be, hopefully, completed today and sent off to Shannon. In my excitement for TCAN, I sorta put off the last chapter. So sorry for that.

3.) Don't forget to vote in my poll on which story should be written after TCAN is completed. TCAN is a short story, so should be done in two weeks time. Therefore, I need to start plotting out the next story. So far, "Desperado" is winning.

Update and Poll

The final chapter of The Dark Horse is nearly complete.  There are a lot of parts that I have to string together in an order that makes sense and set up the stories that follow in the series.

Meanwhile, I have officially plotted out They Came at Night, which is the next story in the series that will be posted because it was the story that you voted on in the last poll I posted. Look for it in early June. Also note that writing should improve during the summer when I have no obligations.

Now, I have a new poll for you guys to vote in. What story will I write after They Came at Night is finished? Check only one.

Impending Storm - Deception is just a hidden truth, because he had deceived everyone around him for so long with carefully painted lies and a twisted smirk. (1986-2000)

Because I am just a huge Bela Talbot fan and thought that her storyline fell somewhat flat at the end, this is the fandom version of her character in The Dark Horse Series. So Time is on My Side never happened in this fandom since I believe I have a better story for her.

I completed chapter five of "The Dark Horse" last night. It's currently in Shannon's mailbox and will be posted as soon as I get it back from her. It's a long chapter - 6700+ words. It's not as long as chapter four but it's longer than I usually write. I always try to cut off a chapter at the 5000 mark, but "The Dark Horse" just demands longer chapters. This story is getting so complicated that I was inclined to continue it to more than just the six outlined chapters. However, I figured instead I would just put one of the storylines on hold until "Hung, Drawn, and Quartered" - a storyline involving John and Ben in the new chapter.

In all honesty, I had contemplated whether or not to just leave the Supernatural fandom because I was sick of being ridiculed for liking the character of Bela and season three in general. Then, I realized that it would only be depressing. I love Supernatural, I love writing for Supernatural, and there are some really awesome fans out there. There was only a small section of fans who were becoming unbearable, and if I stay in a good environment of fans, then Supernatural would still be a great fandom to be apart of.

I'm calmer now

I must admit that yesterday after reading the news about Bela, I was ready to quit the entire fandom of Supernatural for good. I was even considering to end my whole relationship with Supernatural all together. Now, I don't watch the show for Bela or anything like that. I was willing to quit Supernatural because of the fans and Kripke's poor decision making skills. Let me explain.

Kripke is a fantastic writer - all the writers are. I love the work they do, love their dedication, their creativity, their skill. I am disappointed that Kripke allows himself to be bullied by rabid fangirls.  [info]aphrodite33 over at   [info]spn_belastated, "It pisses me off Eric listens to them. He needs to follow Joss rules of story telling. That means 'Give the Fans what they need, not what they Want' That makes for great story telling." I could not agree with this more. Kripke is the visionary behind the whole show and therefore should not listen to the jealous fangirls. Though it's nice that he listens to fans, gives them what they want, he needs to know when to draw the line. Bela never had a chance, and I'm surprised that he kept on Ruby.

According to [info]thehuntress87 over at [info]spn_bela, we still have a chance to fix this horrible mistake. It was bad enough that Kripke listened to the fangirls about Jo (okay, yes, she didn't work as a love interest because she was so young and acted like their little sister, but did she have to go away forever? NO!) Now this is happening to Bela. She doesn't have the chance to be built up as the antagonist she was meant to be because of the fangirls. Therefore, I want to work to correct this mess before Supernatural becomes literally unbearable to watch. This is the only reason I'm not leaving the fandom. So, if you like Bela and want to see her back, please join [info]spn_bela and let's try to fix this mistake.
